Sanaa:Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has identified the NDC itself as its biggest threat leading up to the 2028 elections, rather than the rival New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Ghana Web, Gbande expressed that the future of the NDC hinges significantly on how it manages its internal relationships, members, and governance. He emphasized the need for the party to focus on maintaining unity within its ranks rather than being preoccupied with the NPP's newly elected executives.
Gbande highlighted that the potential dangers to the NDC's success are more likely to arise from within the party's own structures and governance rather than from the opposition. He stressed that the NDC's approach to managing its internal affairs will be crucial in determining its success in the upcoming general election.
He also minimized the perceived threat posed by the NPP's new leadership, which includes individuals connected to the party's former 'Invisible Forces' security structures, cautioning against political intimidation. Gbande remarked that if the NPP considers violence as a means to regain power, the NDC should not be underestimated.
Ultimately, his statements underline that while the NDC is keeping an eye on the opposition, the primary focus remains on preserving internal unity and effectively managing its own affairs as the 2028 elections approach.
