Accra: Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has criticised some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over what he says is their growing focus on succeeding President John Dramani Mahama instead of helping him deliver his reset agenda.
According to Ghana Web, some of the people appointed by President Mahama to help implement his plans are more interested in who will replace him. Pratt revealed that President Mahama came to power promising to address challenges in sectors such as education and health and introduced the reset agenda to tackle the country's problems, but some of his appointees have instead betrayed his agenda.
Pratt expressed his disappointment and sympathy for President Mahama, stating that the betrayal was significant. He noted that Mahama had approached the citizens of Ghana with a plan to resolve issues within the educational and health sectors through a reset agenda, but many of his appointees seemed indifferent to this objective.
Kwesi Pratt further elaborated that the situation was concerning because some appointees did not prioritize restructuring the economy or delivering the reset agenda. Instead, their primary focus was on replacing Mahama, which has left the President struggling to assert his authority.
He also criticised the party and its members for neglecting the 24-hour economy, a key campaign message of the NDC. Pratt believes that the obsession with succession is diverting attention away from the government's programmes and initiatives. He pointed out that NDC social media platforms are more focused on discussing Mahama's potential successors rather than achieving the party's economic goals.
