Delmark Agro Leads Drone Technology Farming Initiative in Akatsi South

Akatsi: Delmark Agro, an agribusiness company based in Akatsi, is spearheading an initiative to introduce drone technology into farming within the Akatsi South Municipality. The move aims to modernize agricultural production and enhance services provided to farmers.

According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative is led by Mr. Edem Ackuaku, the Chief Executive Officer of Delmark Agro, following a collaborative engagement with Farmdrone Pro, a Polish agricultural technology company. The focus of the collaboration is to provide drone spraying services to farmers and establish a drone service center in Akatsi, making drone technology more accessible to local farmers.

The initiative also includes training young individuals from Akatsi as professional drone pilots to operate these agricultural drones. This training is expected to equip the participants with specialized skills, creating new employment opportunities in the agricultural technology sector.

Moreover, Farmdrone Pro has expressed its commitment to support an exchange program, allowing Polish university graduates to visit Ghana next year. This program aims to facilitate knowledge sharing and technical expertise to further develop local farms.

Mr. Ackuaku has engaged Mr. Daniel Dagba, the Municipal Chief Executive for Akatsi South, to secure institutional collaboration and support for the initiative. This partnership is anticipated to enhance cooperation between the private sector and local government in promoting technology-driven agriculture and youth development.

Delmark Agro is recognized for its commitment to supporting farmers and advancing modern agricultural practices in the Akatsi South Municipality. The company provides agricultural inputs, such as certified seeds, grains, agrochemicals, and animal feeds, alongside crop and animal farming and farmer consultations.

Mr. Ackuaku, who was named the Overall Municipal Best Farmer for Akatsi South in 2022, aims to address farming challenges by integrating innovative solutions like drone spraying services. This initiative is expected to complement traditional farming practices and improve farmers' access to mechanized agricultural services.

The training component will develop a skilled workforce of drone operators who can offer services to farmers and pursue careers in agricultural technology. The initiative's broader goal is to foster collaboration between Delmark Agro, the Municipal Assembly, and international partners in advancing a technology-driven and productive agricultural sector in the region.
