Accra: The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects for allegedly representing and facilitating the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leidekkers, popularly known as 'Bolle Jos,' in Ghana.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement issued by PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, revealed that the arrests followed the reported seizure by French Customs of a cocaine shipment allegedly linked to a wider network. The statement detailed that the three suspects are currently in the Commission's custody and are assisting investigators in establishing their alleged roles in the trafficking activities.
The Commission emphasized that these arrests are part of ongoing efforts to disrupt networks involved in the illicit drug trade and to prevent Ghana from being used as a safe haven, transit point, or operational base by international drug-trafficking organizations. NACOC reaffirmed its commitment to working with domestic and international law-enforcement partners to dismantle the people, finances, and infrastructure sustaining the illicit drug trade.
NACOC assured that the rights and legal protections of all persons under investigation would be safeguarded as the investigation proceeds.
