Berekum: The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has installed a 20-megavolt-ampere (MVA) transformer to stabilize electricity supply in the Berekum Municipality of the Bono Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the company stated that the transformer would curb the intermittent power outages and power fluctuations in parts of the municipality. Speaking at the commissioning of the transformer at a ceremony in Berekum, Mr. Kofi Atta, the Mechanical Engineer in-charge of Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) at NEDCo, explained that the new transformer was installed to replace the old 10 MVA transformer.
The installation, Mr. Atta added, would enhance capacity and efficiency in electricity supply, urging residents to remain calm, with assurances that they would soon access stabilized power supply. He noted that the upgrade would resolve persistent low-voltage issues and mitigate load shedding, thereby improving overall electricity delivery in the municipality.
Mr. Atta mentioned that NEDCo engineers were in the process of finalizing the integration and full energization of the transformer to guarantee stable power supply.
Mr. Nelson Keyeremeh, the Member of Parliament for Berekum East Constituency, commended NEDCo and the government for addressing the needs of the people in the area. He mentioned that several electricity transformers had been procured and would soon be installed in deprived communities. Additionally, a dedicated unit had been provided to the Berekum Holy Family Hospital to enhance regular power supply.
