Accra: MTN Ghana organized an invitational golf tournament at the Achimota Golf Club to commemorate 30 years of operation in the country. The event featured an 18-hole competition, attracting corporate golfers and sports enthusiasts.
According to Ghana News Agency, the tournament concluded with Kwame Boafo emerging victorious in the Men's Group A, scoring 39 points. Isaac Asante secured second place with 37 points, winning on countback, while Frederick Semenu Duvor took third place with the same score. In the Ladies' category, Juliene Afi Amezrado claimed first place with 39 points, followed by Princess Nkansah-Boadu and Mary Agyeman Prempeh, both scoring 35 points.
In Men's Group B, Yaw Mireku Jnr. topped the leaderboard with 45 points. Frederick Andre Feraille and Nathan Lee-Williams Annobi followed with 41 and 39 points, respectively. The Ladies' Group B saw Kous Louanges Mang and Anita Ohene Mantey taking first and second with 38 points, while Romina Ahviz finished third with 37 points.
Kofi Mangesi and Derrick Morgan led Men's Group C with 40 points, and Hwadwo Appietu-Ankrah scored 32 points for third place. Elorm R. Akuash Bonney won the Ladies' Group C with 42 points, with Berlinda Boateng and Afi Yayra Dunyo scoring 38 and 35 points, respectively.
In the seniors' division, Jan Vogel triumphed with a gross score of 39, followed by Adewale Adeoye-Famosa with 38. Helen Appah won the Ladies' seniors' division with a gross score of 44, while Hajia Zenabu Sulemana came second with 40.
Simran Oberoi won the Boobie prize for men with a gross score of 22, and Christine Fuller won for the ladies with 26. The longest drive on Hole 17 was awarded to Rickie Hurtubise for men and Berlinda Dzifa Boateng for ladies, while Closest to the Pin on Hole 18 went to Dennis Addo for men and Mary Agyeman Prempeh for ladies.
Mr. Kwesi Amoafo, President of Achimota Golf Club, praised MTN Ghana for its contributions to telecommunications in Ghana and expressed hope for continued collaboration between the club and the company.
Dr. Ishmael Yamson, Board Chairman of MTN Ghana, reflected on the company's journey, highlighting its growth in subscribers and services over the years. He emphasized MTN's commitment to further expansion, including nationwide fiber, 5G, and AI, while maintaining strong community partnerships.
He concluded by thanking Ghanaians for their support and encouraged continued patronage as MTN rolls out more accessible packages.
