Kumasi: The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has finalized balloting for the upcoming national executive elections, slated for October 3, 2026. Former General Secretary John Boadu secured the top position in the National Chairmanship race, with Sammy Crabbe, Paul Afoko, and Boakye Agyarko following in the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
According to Ghana News Agency, the balloting event took place on September 9, setting the stage for the elections in the Ashanti Region. The ballot sequence for the General Secretary position has Sylvester Tetteh at number one, Eugene Boakye Antwi at number two, incumbent Justin Frimpong Kodua at number three, and Dr. Charles Dwamena at number four.
In the National Treasurer race, Hajia Ruka Ahmed leads, followed by Alfred Kojo Thompson and Tahiru Moomen. The Vice Chairperson contest features 13 candidates, with Dr. Mustapha Hamid, Kojo Bamba, and Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah occupying the top three slots. Other notable candidates include Richard Ahiagba, Masawood Mohammed, and Henry Nana Boakye.
For the National Organiser position, the aspirants are Kwame Prempeh, Agyenim Boateng, Archibald Gamor Korletey, Nana K, Ali Maiga Halidu, Emmanuel Korsi Bordja, and Daniel Nii Kwartey Titus Glover, listed sequentially from one to seven. Salam Mustapha, the current National Youth Organiser, withdrew from the contest before the balloting.
The National Youth Organiser race features Alfred Kumi Ababio, Vera Oye Bram, Michael Osei Boateng, Abanga Fuseini, Clement Opoku Gyamfi, and Chris Lloyd. Meanwhile, Hajia Safia Mohammed and Mavis Hawa Koomson are vying for the National Women Organiser position.
The Nasara Coordinator contest includes Alhaji Ali Suraj, Isaka Muazo Kunata, Awal Mohammed, Alhaji Salim Bamba, and Razak Tahiru Maiga. Dennis Miracles Aboagye is the sole candidate for the National Communications Officer role, automatically taking the top ballot position.
Some candidates expressed satisfaction with their ballot positions, attributing them to divine favor. Others noted that their place on the ballot would shape their campaign strategies as the October 3 elections approach.
