The remarkable sequence began during the 2002 season and stretched into 2003 and 2004.
Hearts of Oak's 78-point haul in the 2002 season is another record that seems particularly difficult to touch. The Phobians won 25 of their 30 matches, drew three, and lost only twice to finish with 78 points, scoring 72 goals during the campaign. Even the strongest champions of the recent period, like Asante Kotoko in 2021/22, managed only 67 points, showcasing how unusual the 78-point season was.
