Sammy Kuffour Wagers $5,000 on Asante Kotoko’s 2026/27 Ghana Premier League Triumph

Accra: Former Black Stars and Bayern Munich defender Samuel Osei Kuffour has confidently predicted that Asante Kotoko will clinch the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League title, despite the team dropping points in their opening match.

According to Ghana Web, Kuffour made this bold assertion during an interaction with fans at the Monday Stars football event held at Bawaleshie Park in Accra on Monday, September 7, 2026. The former defender faced challenges from fans regarding his prediction but stood firm, even offering a monetary wager to underscore his conviction. "Come and take $5,000 from me if Asante Kotoko do not win the Ghana Premier League this season," Kuffour declared.

His statement followed Kotoko's 2-2 draw against newly promoted Debibi United at the Golden City Park in Berekum. In that match, Kotoko initially led with a goal from Yakubu Dogo, but Debibi United equalized and then took the lead with Richard Owusu's efforts. Hubert Gyau later salvaged a point for Kotoko with a 79th-minute equalizer.

Despite the opening game setback, Kuffour remains optimistic about Kotoko's prospects, believing the team possesses the quality needed to recover and mount a successful title challenge. The Porcupine Warriors are set to host Heart of Lions in their next league encounter, providing them with a chance to demonstrate their championship potential.
