Shatta Wale Cancels KNUST Show Due to Security Concerns

Kumasi: Ghanaian dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has explained why his show at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) could not take place. Speaking during a live TikTok session shared on social media and sighted by GhanaWeb on September 9, 2026, Shatta Wale noted that the Ashanti Regional Police Commander advised him to cancel his performance because of the limited space at the venue.

According to Ghana Web, the dancehall artiste stated that although he would have loved to perform at Lienda Ville Hostel, as he cherishes his fans in Kumasi, his security remains paramount. Shatta Wale emphasized the importance of taking security precautions seriously, especially with the growing number of fans attending his shows.

He elaborated on the advice he received from the Regional Commander, who indicated that the venue was too small for an event featuring his brand. Shatta Wale acknowledged the security risks involved, noting that while everyone wants to attend his shows, it is crucial to ensure a safe environment for all attendees. He expressed concerns about the potential dangers due to the large crowds his performances attract, remarking that his fanbase has expanded significantly, making it challenging to manage security effectively.
