GES Investigates Alleged Sexual Assault at Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School

Accra: The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken decisive action by interdicting two watchmen at Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School following an alleged sexual assault involving a student.

According to Ghana News Agency, the two watchmen have been arrested and are currently in police custody as investigations into the incident continue. The GES stated that they received a report concerning the alleged assault involving the student and the watchmen.

The statement from Mr. Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the GES, mentioned that preliminary findings indicated the student involved has special needs and was on medication. It was reported that the student experienced a relapse on the day of the alleged incident, necessitating medical attention, during which the incident reportedly occurred.

As a precautionary measure, the two watchmen have been interdicted while further investigations are conducted. The GES has assured that based on the findings, appropriate actions will be enforced in line with the GES Code of Conduct and the legal framework of Ghana.

The GES emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students, highlighting the importance of professionalism among staff. Furthermore, the Service reassured parents, guardians, and the public of its dedication to addressing the matter with due seriousness and protecting the dignity and well-being of students.
