Kumasi: Asante Kotoko have completed the return of goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim, signing him on a two-year contract ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
According to Ghana Web, the 23-year-old goalkeeper comes back to Kumasi after a two-year stint with Ethiopian Premier League side Ethiopia Coffee. During his time in Ethiopia, Danlad Ibrahim honed his skills and gained crucial experience abroad, enhancing his capabilities as a goalkeeper.
Danlad initially made a name for himself at Asante Kotoko after transferring from King Faisal. He played a pivotal role in the club's triumph during the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season, helping to secure the league title for the Porcupine Warriors after an eight-year drought.
His remarkable performances with Kotoko also earned him a place with the Black Stars, where he was part of Ghana's squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Initially, Danlad returned to Kotoko for pre-season training as the club evaluated the prospects of a permanent return.
Reports from July 2026 suggested that there was interest in Danlad from Hearts of Oak and other clubs in Ethiopia. However, Asante Kotoko successfully secured his signature, as head coach Eric Tinkler continues to build his team for the upcoming season.
Danlad Ibrahim's return is expected to enhance competition and bring valuable experience to the goalkeeping department, as the Porcupine Warriors aim to improve their performance and mount a stronger campaign in the upcoming 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.
