According to ghana news agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, the Assembly is centered around the theme 'Cleanliness is Next to Godliness; Keep Clean.' It aims to review reports, discuss church finances, develop policies, address disciplinary issues, and elect a new Moderator. Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, highlighted the theme's significance, noting that cleanliness extends beyond maintaining tidy homes, churches, and communities. He emphasized that cleanliness represents discipline, dignity, responsibility, and respect for God's creation and humanity, while also being crucial for public health, human dignity, and national development.
Mr. Gunu mentioned the government's revitalization of the National Sanitation Day as part of the Clean Up Ghana Agenda, which involves mobilizing citizens, traditional authorities, religious bodies, and local assemblies to collectively maintain cleanliness. He encouraged the EPCG to continue educating its members on proper waste management, hand hygiene, clean surroundings, responsible water use, and water body protection. He stated that the church is not only a worship center but also a hub for moral education, community mobilization, and social transformation, playing a vital role in the national agenda.
The minister elaborated on the government's development agenda being translated into practical interventions across the region's 18 MDAs, with 618 district-level projects underway. He reported that 234 projects have been completed, with 384 ongoing, including borehole projects and CHIP compounds, as well as major education and infrastructure projects. Over 371 Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) projects have been completed, providing classrooms, dormitories, dining halls, staff accommodations, and sanitation facilities.
Regarding potable water, Mr. Gunu mentioned the Water for All initiative's progress, with 19 mechanized boreholes delivered under its first phases. The government is also expanding major water systems, restoring the Anyako-Konu-Seva water system, ending a 22-year water scarcity in parts of the region. He stressed the importance of partnerships with churches, traditional authorities, schools, businesses, civil society organizations, and citizens to achieve these goals.
Outgoing Moderator Rt Rev Dr Lt Col Bliss Divine Kofi Agbeko (Rtd) urged church leaders and members to maintain integrity in their ministry and personal lives, emphasizing that integrity should be practiced honestly and transparently, even without supervision. He encouraged the church to prioritize service quality over status and humility over pride, avoiding arrogance to effectively represent Christ.
Rt Rev Dr Agbeko, marking the end of his six-year tenure, expressed gratitude for the experience and support from his family, friends, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the President. He called for maturity, love, and unity among delegates during the Assembly.
