Accra: The Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two brothers in connection with the shooting and killing of a 54-year-old car dealer at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, near Weija. The deceased, identified as Mohammed Rahman, was shot dead on August 6, 2026, while his wife, Christiana Fosu, 53, was also shot and injured in the incident.
According to Ghana Web, a statement issued by the police on August 9, 2026, and signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Greater Accra Region, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, revealed that the suspect, Adams Adder Almeida, allegedly confessed to shooting Rahman and his wife. Adams claimed that Rahman's repeated comments describing him as 'lazy and useless' had mentally affected him, which motivated the shooting.
The police detailed that the shooting occurred at Beach Drive Estate, Tuba, after they received information about the incident. A police team dispatched to the scene found Rahman and his wife with gunshot wounds outside their four-bedroom apartment. The couple was immediately taken to Finney Hospital in Weija. Rahman was pronounced dead on arrival, while his wife was referred to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where she is currently admitted and responding to treatment.
The statement further disclosed that the deceased's body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary, pending an autopsy. Following his arrest, Adams led investigators to a room at Beach Drive Estate, where a pistol believed to have been used in the shooting was discovered. The weapon was hidden beneath a wardrobe belonging to his brother, Bala Bilyon. Investigations revealed that Adams and Bala lived together in the same room at Tuba.
Bala, who worked with the deceased and knew him, has also been arrested and is assisting the police with investigations. Adams allegedly informed investigators that the pistol was given to him by a friend named Gideon. The police attempted to locate Gideon at his residence in Tuba, but he was not found, and efforts are ongoing to find him to assist with the investigation.
Currently, the two arrested suspects are in police custody, continuing to assist with the ongoing investigation.
