Ghana EXIM Bank Commissions Awoamefia Togbi Sri III Astro Turf Park in Anloga

Anloga: Ghana Export-Import Bank (Ghana EXIMBank) has commissioned the Awoamefia Togbi Sri III Astro Turf Park at Hogbe Park in Anloga, providing the municipality with a modern sports facility designed to support football development and community activities.

According to Ghana Web, the commissioning ceremony brought together the Awoamefia of Anlo State, Togbi Sri III, the Awadada of Anlo Dukor, Togbui Agbesi Awusu II, government officials, traditional leaders, and residents of Anloga. Chief Executive of Ghana EXIMBank, Sylvester Adinam Mensah, spoke at the event, highlighting the project's aim to address the deteriorating condition of the old Hogbe Park, which could no longer support social activities, competitive football, and organized sporting programs.

Mensah explained, "Hogbe Park has a place in the memory of this community. It has hosted games, events, and gatherings over many years. However, a facility can only serve its purpose if it meets the standards required. The condition of the park had deteriorated to the point where it could no longer support competitive football or structured sporting activity at the level this community deserves."

He further disclosed the motive behind the project, stating that Anloga's population, sporting culture, and talent warranted the need for modern infrastructure. "Ghana Export-Import Bank assessed that case and found it credible. We provided financing for this project under our mandate to support investment that generates economic and social returns for Ghanaians," he added.

Mensah noted that the facility meets international specifications and will support year-round activities, including league matches, training programs, tournaments, and school competitions. He emphasized the importance of proper management of the facility, with Ghana EXIMBank continuing to take an interest in its utilization and maintenance.

A management committee was inaugurated to oversee the operations of the park, including representatives of the Anloga Municipal Assembly, the Anlo Traditional Council, and other stakeholders. Their responsibilities include administration, maintenance, and access management.

The Ghana EXIMBank CEO credited Togbi Sri III for championing the project, acknowledging his key role in its completion. Togbi Sri III expressed gratitude to Ghana EXIMBank for supporting the development aspirations of the Anlo people, describing the astro turf park as an important investment in the youth and future of the community.

The project is part of Ghana EXIMBank's corporate social responsibility activities to mark its 10th anniversary. The commissioning of the Awoamefia Togbi Sri III Astro Turf Park is expected to enhance sports development in Anloga and provide a modern venue for sporting and community events in the municipality.
