Kadjebi: The Management of Dapaa District Assembly (D/A) Primary School in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region has made an appeal to benevolent organisations, philanthropists, and development partners for assistance in constructing a new classroom block and other necessary facilities. This initiative aims to better accommodate the school's increasing pupil population, thereby facilitating more effective teaching and learning experiences.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the school, Mr. George Gyampoh, voiced this appeal during a stakeholder engagement on education budgeting and accountability, organized by ActionAid Ghana in Kadjebi. Mr. Gyampoh highlighted the issue of overcrowded classrooms, which hampers effective teaching and learning and adversely impacts the quality of education offered at the school.
Currently, the school faces a situation where nearly 60 children are crammed into a single classroom, a condition Mr. Gyampoh described as detrimental to both learners and teachers. He emphasized that the addition of new classrooms would alleviate congestion, foster a more conducive learning environment, and enhance students' academic performance.
Moreover, Mr. Gyampoh appealed for supplementary facilities, such as furniture for teachers, desks for learners, toilet facilities, and teaching and learning materials, to further improve educational delivery. He urged the Government, corporate institutions, non-governmental organisations, and individuals to support efforts by the Ghana Education Service to enhance infrastructure in underprivileged schools.
He stressed the importance of investing in educational infrastructure to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all children, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal Four (SDG 4). Participants at the engagement echoed the necessity for increased investment in basic education infrastructure and called on stakeholders to guarantee that education budgets are sufficiently funded and executed to address pressing challenges faced by schools in the district.
The program was part of ActionAid Ghana's broader efforts to foster transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in education financing and service delivery within the Oti Region.
