Accra: The Coalition of Parents of Students in Private Institutions (COPOSIPI) has urged the Minister of Education and Parliament to urgently address concerns raised by private schools over the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
According to Ghana News Agency, the association emphasized the significant contributions made by private educational institutions to Ghana's educational development. These institutions have complemented the government's efforts by producing outstanding academic results, creating employment, and expanding access to quality education.
In a statement signed by Dr. Simon Gbene, Executive Secretary of COPOSIPI, the association stressed that contributions to national development should be protected and strengthened. They highlighted that the concerns surrounding the BECE results require a fair, transparent, and independent review to maintain public confidence in Ghana's education system.
The group called on the Minister of Education, Parliament, the Ghana Education Service (GES), and appropriate examination authorities to engage all stakeholders and resolve the concerns promptly and objectively. The statement emphasized the importance of avoiding actions that undermine institutions consistently contributing to educational excellence.
COPOSIPI urged for the encouragement of healthy competition, fairness, and equal opportunities for every school and child, rather than succumbing to jealousy or a 'pull them down' mentality. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting policies promoting transparency, merit, and excellence in education for the benefit of all Ghanaian children.
The statement further appealed to all stakeholders to work together to preserve the integrity of the educational system and build a strong future for the nation.
