Ghana: Ghanaian lawyer and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has alleged that a former concubine of Brigadier-General Amara Camara, who is the Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Presidency of Guinea, has been arrested in Ghana following an Interpol request from Guinea.
According to Ghana Web, Barker-Vormawor claimed in a social media post that Bangoura, a Belgian citizen, was arrested at approximately 5:00 a.m. on August 4, 2026, upon her arrival in Ghana from Paris. Barker-Vormawor also stated that Bangoura was previously in a relationship with Brigadier-General Amara Camara, and the two reportedly share two children.
He further alleged that after a contentious breakup, Bangoura threatened to reveal sensitive information about the senior Guinean official. Barker-Vormawor claimed she fled Guinea with her siblings due to concerns for her safety.
The lawyer also alleged that Guinean authorities subsequently issued an Interpol Red Notice for Bangoura, aiming to compel her return to Guinea. According to Barker-Vormawor, Bangoura has informed Ghanaian authorities that returning to Guinea would endanger her life, and she intends to seek political asylum in Ghana.
Barker-Vormawor disclosed that the law firm Merton and Everett LLP has been retained to represent Bangoura in the matter. "We trust that due process will be followed in this matter; this time around. A life is at stake," he wrote on social media.
