Adaklu waya: The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Bliss Divine Agbeko (Rtd.), has called on pastors to actively engage in environmental sanitation efforts and advocate against ecological destruction in Ghana. He emphasized that, beyond their pastoral duties, it is a religious, moral, and civic duty for pastors to be involved in community cleanliness and developmental initiatives, as well as to advocate against environmental degradation.
According to Ghana Web, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko made these remarks during the ordination ceremony of eighteen pastors in Adaklu Waya, near Ho, the Volta Regional capital. The newly ordained pastors, consisting of fourteen men and four women, completed their two-year probationary period and were officially inducted into full-time ministry with the Church. The ceremony included rites of ministerial vows and sanctification, in accordance with the Church's doctrines.
Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. Agbeko highlighted the importance of the Church's involvement in community development programs, stating that such participation could strengthen relationships with local leaders and residents, while also potentially bolstering congregation growth. He urged the new ministers to embody values such as diligence, integrity, faithfulness, compassion, and a commitment to promoting peace and unity.
During the event, the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, who is also the Minister for Roads and Highways, praised the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana for its pivotal role in religion, education, and health sectors. He acknowledged the Church's educational institutions for producing individuals of high moral standards and intellectual capacity who have significantly contributed to Ghana's development.
Additionally, the MP announced plans to rehabilitate roads in the Amedzofe community in the Ho-West District, which hosts the E.P College of Amedzofe (AMECO), with a target completion date before the end of 2026. The ordination ceremony also marked the launch of the EPCG 5-Year Strategic Plan Implementation and celebrated the 170th anniversary of the E.P Church at Adaklu Waya. The event was attended by a diverse group of individuals, including prominent members of the Eglise Evangelique Presbyterienne du Togo (EEPT), traditional authorities, and high-ranking political figures.
