Miami: Social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have been arrested in the United States in connection with a UK police investigation into alleged sexual offences, Bedfordshire Police announced.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is bringing further charges against the brothers, who were apprehended by US marshals in Miami on Saturday, following allegations from four additional victims. The CPS has requested their extradition from the United States.
The brothers are also facing legal proceedings in Romania, where they reside. Andrew Tate, 39, is charged with multiple counts, including rape and trafficking for sexual exploitation, as well as offences related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate, 38, faces charges of sexual assault, rape, and trafficking for sexual exploitation.
The CPS stated that the 38 new charges, along with 21 existing ones, pertain to alleged offences from July 2010 to August 2017. Malcolm McHaffie, head of the special crime division at the CPS, emphasized the decision to prosecute the Tates for further serious offences. The CPS has requested their extradition to the UK, following their arrests.
Bedfordshire Police's Major Crime Unit continues to investigate other offences reported to them and Hertfordshire Constabulary. Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas affirmed the commitment to supporting victims and investigating all reports of male violence against women and girls.
The brothers were slated for extradition to the UK after Romanian legal proceedings, following European arrest warrants issued in 2024. They have consistently denied wrongdoing, with Andrew Tate describing them as "very innocent men."
In June, a High Court judge dismissed their attempt to challenge the CPS for not disclosing the names of their alleged victims. Lawyer Matt Jury, representing four alleged British victims, urged authorities to expedite the case, stressing the serious nature of the charges against the Tates.
