Wenchi MP Initiates Construction of Education and Health Facilities

Accra: Alhaji Seidu Haruna, the Member of Parliament for Wenchi Constituency in the Bono Region, has performed a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of educational and health projects in the area. The projects include a Kindergarten block with changing rooms, playgrounds, and an office and store at the Abotareye Municipal Assembly Basic School, as well as a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Akete.

According to Ghana News Agency, Alhaji Haruna stated that he is funding these projects through his share of the MP's National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) fund and the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND). He emphasized that the execution of these projects reflects his commitment to addressing the needs of his constituents.

The MP highlighted the strategic positioning of the CHPS compound at Akete, a farming community, to better serve the rural population. Alhaji Haruna urged the contractors to expedite the construction to ensure the timely completion and handover of the facilities.

Madam Gloria Opoku Gyamfi, the Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive, remarked that the construction of the Akete CHPS compound would further the government's Free Primary Healthcare policy. She mentioned that the policy aims to provide rural dwellers with access to basic health and maternal care services.
