Accra: The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has directed all Lotto Marketing Companies, Private Lotto Operators, collaborators, and licensees to comply strictly with the approved 25 percent commission rate for retailers and agents. According to Ghana Web, the NLA issued a statement on May 15, 2026, highlighting that some operators have been paying commissions above the approved rate under the guise of incentives and bonuses. The Authority emphasized that any commission payment exceeding the approved 25% is considered illegal. The NLA clarified that the 25 percent commission rate was implemented in August 2024 following a review that aimed to improve the sustainability of the lottery business. It underscored that any additional payment related to retailer compensation is subject to its regulatory oversight. Operators have been instructed to cease paying commissions above the approved rate and are required to seek written approval before introducing any incentive or promotional packages. The Authority warned that non-compliance could result in sanctions, including the suspension or revocation of operating licenses.
