Accra: Emmanuel Asamoah, a young Ghanaian who recently returned from South Africa after enduring xenophobic attacks, has successfully established his own cement distribution and hardware business.
According to Ghana Web, this new venture was made possible through the assistance of businessman Ibrahim Mahama, who committed to helping Emmanuel rebuild his life in Ghana.
The announcement of this development was made by Rafik Mahama, an aide to Ibrahim Mahama, through a Facebook post on May 14, 2026. This support aligns with Ibrahim Mahama's commitment to aiding Ghanaians affected by xenophobic violence in South Africa. At a meeting attended by Ghana's High Commissioner to South Africa, Ibrahim Mahama encouraged Ghanaians abroad to return home and contribute to the country's development. He also offered employment opportunities through his company for returnees based on their skills and experience.
In addition to establishing the business, Ibrahim Mahama provided Emmanuel Asamoah with GHS200,000. This assistance was aimed at allowing Emmanuel to spend time with his family before relocating to Accra to begin his business operations. Emmanuel chose to venture into the hardware industry after leaving his previous nail and hairdressing business in South Africa due to the xenophobic attacks.
Ibrahim Mahama advised Emmanuel to maintain focus and discipline as he embarks on this new journey. He also praised Ghana's High Commissioner to South Africa for supporting the welfare of Ghanaians residing in the country.
