Ghana Secures Three Medals on Day Three of African Senior Athletics Championships

Accra: Ghana achieved notable success on the third day of the ongoing African Senior Athletics Championships by securing one silver and two bronze medals. High jumper Esther Obenewaa led the charge by winning a silver medal for the host nation. Obenewaa accomplished a personal best by clearing 1.81 metres, earning her a place on the podium.

According to Ghana News Agency, Florence Agyemang made an early impact by claiming Ghana's first medal of the championships. Competing in the women's 400 metres final at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra, Agyemang finished third. She completed the race in 51.87 seconds, securing a bronze medal behind Ethiopia's Ayayba Aliy Ahmed, who claimed gold, and Botswana's Kamberuk Obakeng, who took silver.

In another event, Alex Amankwah contributed to Ghana's medal tally by winning bronze in the men's 800m finals. Amankwah clocked a time of 1:46.18 seconds, marking Ghana's second bronze medal at this competition. These achievements have provided a significant morale boost for the host nation, particularly after the previous day's disappointment in the men's 100m race, where Ghana failed to secure any medals.

As the championships continue, Team Ghana remains hopeful to further their success and bring more medals home, uplifting the spirits of local supporters.
