Dr Kingsley Agyemang Denies Arrest by Bureau of National Intelligence

Abuakwa south: The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr Kingsley Agyemang, has refuted media reports that he has been arrested by the Bureau of National Intelligence (BNI), describing the claims as false.

According to Ghana Web, the denial follows reports suggesting that Dr Agyemang was apprehended by the BNI in connection with alleged scholarship-related fraud under the administration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The situation escalated when information emerged that the MP was invited through the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, on May 5, 2026, for questioning by investigators.

Sources indicate that Dr Agyemang cooperated with the inquiry and was subsequently released after the engagement. Additionally, a video shared by the MP on the same day showed him at an eatery with an unidentified individual, further countering claims of his arrest and detention.

Meanwhile, the BNI has not yet disclosed the full circumstances surrounding the case or the specific allegations levelled against Dr Agyemang. The situation remains under scrutiny as more details are awaited.
