Accra: Former Minister of Health, Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, has expressed confidence that the Black Stars will form a formidable team for the 2026 World Cup if they include players like Eddie Nketiah. He emphasized the potential of the Crystal Palace forward, likening his striking abilities to those of Black Stars legend Asamoah Gyan, suggesting that Nketiah could deliver impressive performances on the field.
According to Ghana Web, Dr Okoe-Boye, who is also the former Ledzokuku Member of Parliament, highlighted that Nketiah's inclusion would significantly strengthen the national team. He stressed that there should be no barriers preventing Nketiah's participation just because he did not partake in the qualifiers. Dr Okoe-Boye mentioned his recent appeal for Nketiah's inclusion, noting the player's previous tenure with Arsenal and his capacity to score effectively.
Dr Okoe-Boye also dismissed the notion that players who did not participate in the qualifiers should be excluded from the World Cup squad. He advocated for a flexible policy that allows for the inclusion of talented players, regardless of their participation in the qualification stage. He pointed out that the world doesn't operate on fairness, and decisions should be made to ensure the strongest possible team represents Ghana at the World Cup.
