Accra: President John Dramani Mahama on Friday inaugurated the construction of a multipurpose hall and hostel facility at the SDA College of Education in Asokore-Koforidua, the Eastern Regional Capital. This development marks a significant step towards enhancing the infrastructure of the institution.
According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative comes in response to an earlier appeal by Professor Vincent Adzahlie-Mensah, the Principal of the SDA College of Education. During the launch of the 'No Fees Stress Policy' for first-year tertiary students in 2025, the Principal highlighted the need for improved facilities at the College. President Mahama emphasized that the new facility would function as a hub for academic, social, and community activities, thereby enriching the learning environment for students and staff alike.
The President also mentioned ongoing efforts to fulfill other requests made by the College's Principal, including the procurement of a bus for the institution. He further announced that the issue of official vehicles for principals has been addressed, with the Principal of the College among the recipients of the new Toyota Prado vehicles that will be distributed.
These developments are part of a broader strategy to support teacher training institutions, as the quality of education in the country relies heavily on the caliber of teachers produced. President Mahama lauded the leadership, staff, and students of the College for their dedication and service to the nation and reassured them of the Government's commitment to supporting educational institutions in their mission to enhance education nationwide.
