NDC Ashanti Women’s Organiser Makes Allegations Against Ejisu MCE

Kumasi: The Ashanti Regional Women's Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gloria Huze, has provided details regarding the recent disturbances at the Ejisu Municipal Assembly. In an interview on Accra FM, Gloria Huze denied allegations that she incited thugs to assault the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu, Jerryne Asante, during a confrontation over the Assembly's warehouses.

According to Ghana Web, Gloria Huze contended that it was the MCE who involved the police following a disagreement concerning the use of the warehouses. She accused the MCE, appointed by President John Dramani Mahama, of renting out the warehouses and retaining the proceeds, thereby restricting access to others. Gloria Huze questioned the MCE's actions, stating, "She has rented two of the warehouses and is pocketing the money. I came to store government goods in some of them, and she is saying she is coming to remove them. Why didn't you remove the items in the ones you rented first before coming to mine?"

Gloria Huze emphasized her position as the regional women's organiser and argued that the MCE's decision to involve the police was unnecessary. "I'm her regional women's organiser, and I have come to store government items in the warehouse. She shouldn't have called the police on me. The following morning, she posted me all over on social media; my pictures are everywhere," she remarked. She further challenged the MCE to clarify who initiated the confrontation, stating, "You can call her and ask whether I was the one who attacked her first or whether she was the one who brought the police into this matter."

A video capturing the incident revealed police officers and individuals, described as 'macho' men, engaging in a heated exchange within the office. The footage also showed a broken glass table, allegedly belonging to the MCE. Background voices included remarks such as, "We didn't come here to joke. Pack your things," while a woman's voice, believed to be that of the MCE, was heard saying, "The NDC has become cheap... You will suffer for it. Today you have grown wings... You will suffer for it."

Akoma FM shared the video on Facebook on April 28, 2026, with the caption: "Some NDC executives in the Ejisu Municipality attack the MCE, Jerryne Asante."
