Akumadan: The Offinso North District capital, Akumadan, was set agog with the 3rd edition of the annual Anidaso Easter Soccer Gala Competition on Good Friday. A performance of gymnastics displays by pupils of Uni Joe Education Complex added color to the opening ceremony. According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, the Member of Parliament for Offinso North, addressed the gathering, emphasizing that the event aimed to bring excitement, joy, and peace to the area during the Easter festivities. He noted that the tournament was also intended to boost economic activities and foster unity and peaceful coexistence among the people. The MP highlighted that the event, while helping to unearth and develop soccer talents among the youth, was also geared towards building their confidence to enable them to compete globally. He mentioned the possibility of including other sports like basketball and volleyball in future events, stating that sports is a significant investment to boost both local and national eco nomies. Dr. Asamoah expressed gratitude to the Chief and elders of Akumadan for providing land for the construction of the Lions Astro Turf, which has become an attraction in the sporting world. He also commended the district's security agencies for ensuring an orderly and peaceful program. Sixteen teams from various Electoral Areas of the Constituency are competing for honors in the four-day soccer fiesta. The winner is set to receive a cash prize of Ghc18,000.
