Rabotec-Asanko Gold Partnership to Enhance Local Participation in Ghanaian Mining

Accra: Indigenous mining services firm Rabotec Ghana Limited has formalised a major contract partnership with Asanko Gold Ghana as part of efforts to enhance local participation in the country's mining sector.

According to Ghana Web, Chief Executive Officer of Rabotec, Alhaji Ali Ibrahim, described the agreement as a reflection of years of 'delivery, discipline, and proven capability,' positioning the company to operate at a larger scale within the industry. Speaking at the contract signing in Accra on March 30, 2026, he emphasized their focus on operating safely, performing reliably, and meeting industry standards set by Asanko.

Rabotec, established in 2002, secured its first major mining contract with Asanko Gold Ghana in October 2023. This followed over a decade of collaboration that began with smaller operational roles. Over the years, the company has built a strong track record in safety, production performance, and adherence to Ghana's Local Content policy. Ibrahim highlighted this partnership as a testament to the success of Ghana's Local Content framework in enabling indigenous companies to grow and compete at scale.

Beyond operational performance, the deal is expected to create jobs and deepen skills development within local communities. Rabotec currently employs about 950 staff, all of whom are Ghanaians, with 41% drawn from host communities and 13% female representation. The company has also spent over $8 million on local suppliers over the past two years, underscoring its commitment to supporting local businesses and strengthening the domestic supply chain.

The CEO noted that Rabotec's growing capabilities have enabled it to expand beyond Ghana, with operations in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Mali, and Mauritania. This expansion further cements its position as a competitive player in West Africa's mining services industry. Alhaji Ali Ibrahim expressed appreciation to Asanko Gold Ghana for maintaining high operational standards, noting that the partnership has been crucial in shaping Rabotec's growth trajectory.
