Volta NSA to Host Agenda 2028 Stakeholders’ Dialogue on Olympic Development

Volta region: The Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Sports Authority (NSA) is set to convene a major stakeholders' dialogue on its flagship sports development initiative, Agenda 2028 - Volta to the Olympics. The engagement aims to bring together key actors across the region to solicit ideas, build consensus, and strengthen collaboration for the successful rollout of the multi-year programme designed to groom athletes for elite international competitions. According to Ghana News Agency, participants will include representatives from the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives, Members of Parliament, the Ghana Education Service, sports federations, corporate institutions, development partners, and community leaders. Agenda 2028 is a strategic initiative focused on identifying, nurturing, and developing sporting talents across the Volta Region, with the long-term goal of preparing athletes for global platforms such as the Olympic Games. The programme targets key disciplines including athletics, boxing, handball, volleyball, and basketball, with a strong emphasis on grassroots development and the integration of school sports systems. Mr Dzidodo Ruben Adjahoe, Volta Regional Sports Development Officer and one of the organisers, said the dialogue would serve as a critical platform for stakeholders to share insights, propose partnerships, and align efforts to enhance sports development across all 18 districts in the region. A key highlight of the discussions will centre on collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, particularly through strengthening Physical Education frameworks to improve talent identification and development at the basic and secondary school levels. The National Sports Authority is, therefore, calling on individuals, institutions, corporate bodies, and development partners to participate in the dialogue and contribute to shaping a sustainable sports development agenda for the region. Stakeholders interested in supporting or participa ting in the initiative are encouraged to engage with the Volta Regional Secretariat of the Authority. Agenda 2028 is expected to provide a comprehensive roadmap for sports development in the Volta Region, positioning the area as a major contributor to Ghana's future success on the international sporting stage.
