Agorkpo: Mr. Isaac Onyame Kwarteng, the Assembly Member for the Kudzragbe Mormortsonya Electoral Area, has donated medical equipment and other items to the Agorkpo Salem Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound to support healthcare delivery in the area.
According to Ghana News Agency, the items included 3,000 strips of syringes, two glucometers, a maternity bed with a mattress, and 10 plastic chairs. This donation is part of Mr. Kwarteng's efforts to improve access to quality healthcare services within the electoral area.
In an interview, Mr. Kwarteng mentioned that the donation followed an appeal from health workers at the facility, who highlighted several challenges affecting service delivery. He personally funded the procurement of the maternity bed and chairs, while the medical equipment was donated by GaDangme International, a group based in the United States and Canada.
"I funded part of the items, but the medical equipment was provided by GaDangme International through a member of the group," he noted. Mr. Kwarteng expressed appreciation for the group's support, particularly Mr. Allalomo, for their contribution to healthcare delivery in the community.
He also highlighted several challenges faced by the Agorkpo CHPS compound, including the absence of a pharmacy or drug dispensing unit, inadequate beds, and limited logistics needed for effective healthcare services.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Ada East District Health Directorate, Dr. Hubert Hounkpatin commended the assembly member and the donors for their gesture, describing it as timely and beneficial to both health workers and patients. He stated that the donation would help improve maternal and general healthcare services in the community.
Dr. Hounkpatin further appealed to other stakeholders and philanthropists to support health facilities in underserved communities to enhance service delivery.
