Arusha: President John Dramani Mahama has called for the cessation of the United States and Israel conflict with Iran, urging all sides to return to dialogue. President Mahama made the appeal during a bilateral meeting with his Tanzanian counterpart President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the State House in Arusha, Tanzania.
According to Ghana News Agency, President Mahama highlighted that recent attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel, followed by counterattacks by Iran on Gulf countries, are creating new geopolitical events. He emphasized the need for preparation to protect citizens, given the region's significance as the epicenter of global oil supplies.
President Mahama further pointed out the economic implications, noting that when crude oil prices rise beyond a certain level, it negatively impacts countries. He called for an end to the conflict and a return to dialogue to restore peace in the region. President Mahama was in Tanzania as the guest of honor at the opening of the 2026 Judicial Year and the 20th Anniversary of the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights.
