Ghana’s Economic Fundamentals Improving – President Mahama

Accra: President John Dramani Mahama has declared that Ghana's economy is regaining strength, with key fundamentals showing signs of sustained improvement. Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament, he attributed the progress to his administration's fiscal discipline and prudent expenditure management.

According to Ghana Web, President Mahama stated that these measures have restored investor confidence and positioned the country for accelerated growth. He emphasized that Ghana is back on track, working again, and open for business, highlighting that the fundamentals are improving and the path to sustained acceleration is clear.

President Mahama further emphasized his government's commitment to choosing discipline over waste and stability over speculation, a strategy that has produced significant results across the economy. The State of the Nation Address is a constitutional obligation under Article 67 of Ghana's 1992 Constitution, requiring the President to report on the nation's condition at the start of each parliamentary session.

The annual address offers a comprehensive overview of the country's progress and challenges, covering critical sectors such as the economy, health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and international relations. It also outlines the government's policy priorities and development agenda for the upcoming year.
