Accra: The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced a prohibition on the registration of unqualified candidates for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). This move aims to curb the unauthorized registration practices observed in some institutions.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement released and signed by Mr. Daniel Fenyi, the Head of Public Relations at the GES, highlighted concerns regarding the unauthorized registration of candidates by certain Heads of Senior High and Technical Schools. These registrations were reportedly carried out in exchange for fees, which is against the regulations set by the GES.
The statement clearly outlines that any head or school official found participating in such unauthorized activities, including charging fees for registration, would face charges of misconduct and abuse of office. It emphasized that only Form Three students, with academic records and progression from Form One to Form Three duly documented in the school's database, are eligible for registration by school heads.
Furthermore, the statement pointed out that the registration of Form Two students or private candidates by any school official is strictly prohibited. It warned that any violation of this directive would lead to severe sanctions in line with the regulations of both the GES and the West African Examinations Council.
