Accra: Mr Wisdom Osei Boamah, the District Chief Executive for Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality, has assured residents of the assembly's commitment to providing infrastructure to help improve the living conditions of the people. He emphasized the initiation of several development projects aimed at improving basic social amenities and enhancing socio-economic conditions.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Osei Boamah made these remarks during a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of health and educational projects in three communities within the municipality. The communities of Atwima-Agogo and Atwima Mim are set to benefit from the construction of a clinic with nurses' quarters, each costing GHS 124,589.67. Additionally, the Bankyease community will see the development of a three-unit classroom block, a 12-seater toilet facility, and a mechanized borehole, with an estimated cost of GHS 801,731.38.
The projects, targeted for completion within six months, are funded by the District Assembly's Common Fund. Mr Osei Boamah noted that all necessary procedures, including tender, evaluation, and budget approval, have been completed, and he urged contractors to adhere to the project timeline. He also called on local chiefs, assembly members, and community members to cooperate with contractors to ensure the successful completion of the projects.
Mr Osei Boamah further highlighted that improving infrastructure would demonstrate to the residents that they made the right choice by voting for the NDC in the 2024 general elections. He identified poor roads, electricity, and communication networks as challenges in some communities and assured that urgent attention is being given to address these issues.
Nana Akwasi Owusu Ababio, Chief of Bankyease, expressed gratitude for the projects and requested the tarring of the 19-kilometre road linking the community to other parts of the municipality. He also encouraged Mr Osei Boamah to continue his diligent work, suggesting that such efforts could propel him to higher political positions. Nana Akwasi Amakwatiah Asempa Nkwantabisa, Adonten-hene of Atwima Agogo, also appealed for improvements in the local road network to prevent unapproved lorry fare hikes by drivers.
