Accra: Nana Amihere Blay II, the Chief of A.B. Bomazo community, has officially commenced the construction of a modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) center and a library for A.B. Bokazo Primary and Junior High School (JHS). The initiative is designed to provide students with essential skills and knowledge to thrive in a technology-driven world.
According to Ghana News Agency, the groundbreaking ceremony was themed 'Unity, Leadership and Learning: Empowering Generations Through Tradition and Technology.' Nana Blay II urged the students to utilize the new facilities upon completion to further their education and secure their future, instead of engaging in illegal mining activities.
He called on the CEO of Ghana Gas and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle to assist in renovating the school's classroom blocks, which suffer from leaking roofs during the rainy season and lack adequate furniture. The Chief expressed gratitude to the MP for addressing the school's water issues by providing a borehole.
Madam Judith Adjoba Blay, CEO of Ghana Gas, affirmed the company's commitment to supporting the projects, emphasizing the importance of integrating ICT education with traditional learning. She highlighted that the company, through its Corporate Social Responsibility and Local Content Policy, would focus on development within their operational areas. She also announced support for girls pursuing education in Mathematics, Science, and ICT, aiming to nurture future women engineers.
Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the MP for Ellembelle, commended the Chief and Queenmother for their dedication to enhancing education in the community. He contributed 20 streetlights and pledged to improve the town's main roads.
Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, encouraged the community to avoid chieftaincy conflicts and foster unity for development. He reiterated his support for the ICT center and urged parents to prioritize their children's education.
Mr Joseph Armah Agyekum, District Chief Executive for Ellembelle, acknowledged Nana Amihere Blay II's collaboration with the Assembly to expedite the town's development, particularly in education. He emphasized education as a means to bridge socioeconomic disparities and promised the Assembly's backing for the projects.
Mr Wilfred Katey Adoduadji, the Ellembelle District Director of Education, highlighted the importance of embedding traditional values within modern technological education, stating that while technology offers educational opportunities globally, it must be guided by traditional values.
