Twifo-hemang: The Member of Parliament (MP) for Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira Constituency, Mr. Lawrence Kwabena Agyensam, has called on teachers to educate pupils on the positive and responsible usage of social media. Mr. Agyensam noted that many pupils were misusing social media due to lack of proper guidance. According to Ghana News Agency, the MP made the appeal during an award ceremony he organised to honour some dedicated teachers in his constituency for their outstanding contribution towards education in the area. He explained that modern technology had become part of everyday life, and when used appropriately, social media could serve as an important tool for research, learning, and information sharing. He emphasised the need for teachers to guide pupils to understand the benefits of social media rather than misuse them. The Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Basic Schools in the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira District, Mr. Hayford Yamoah, urged teachers to uphold high moral standards and serve as ro le models for students. He cautioned against sexual misconduct in schools and reminded teachers that their pupils looked up to them for guidance and inspiration, and so they must be good mentors. One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Daniel Agbodza, expressed gratitude to Mr. Agyensam for the recognition and his support over the years. He appealed to the MP to help address challenges facing schools in the district, particularly the need for new school blocks to ease overcrowded classrooms where many pupils were compelled to study under poor learning conditions.
