Kpandai: The chiefs of the Kpandai district have voiced their opposition to the Tamale High Court's order for a rerun of the parliamentary election, expressing concerns over the court's decision and its potential impact on community peace. Nana Nkpajator Nkpawiase II, the Chief of Blajai, spoke on behalf of the other chiefs, calling on President John Dramani Mahama to step in and address the issue.
According to Ghana News Agency, the court nullified the results of the election, which had declared Mr. Mathew Nyindam, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, as the winner with 27,947 votes. The court directed the Electoral Commission (EC) to conduct a fresh poll within 30 days. However, the chiefs argued that the election process was smooth and that Mr. Nyindam was duly elected as the Member of Parliament to represent the people of Kpandai.
