Diplomat Lauds Plan International Ghana’s I-PADEV Project, Urges Children to Be Sanitation Ambassadors

Accra: Artaldus Sung Kuuntanaa, a 14-year-old Child Sanitation Diplomat from the Accra College of Education Demonstration School, has called on all children to be ambassadors of good sanitation, cleanliness, and change in their schools and communities. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Kuuntanaa, who is the Sixth Child Sanitation Diplomat, emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and practicing good hygiene to inspire others. He highlighted the negative impact of poor sanitation on children's education and health, stating that it often leads to delayed dreams and lost classroom time. Mr. Kuuntanaa made these remarks at the close-out of Plan International Ghana's 'Integrated Package for Sustainable Community Development (I-PADEV)' Project in Accra. The project aimed to create a protective environment for children by ensuring equitable access to water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services, along with early childhood care, education, and health facilities. The three-year I-PADEV project, conc luded in December 2025, targeted 20 communities in the West Mamprusi and Jasikan municipalities in Ghana's North East and Oti regions. Mr. Kuuntanaa noted that for many children in Ghana, sanitation issues are part of their daily struggles as they often lack access to proper toilets and safe water in schools and communities. He expressed his vision for a future where no child in Ghana suffers due to poor sanitation, where every school is equipped with safe toilets, and where children can study without fear or shame, urging collective efforts to make this vision a reality.
