Atwima Nwabiagya South MCE Refutes Illegal Mining Allegations

Nkawie: Mr. Wisdom Osei Boamah, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South in the Ashanti Region, has denied allegations linking him to illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, activities in the municipality. He described the claims as false and baseless, lacking supporting evidence, while insisting on his commitment to working tirelessly to uplift communities and promote development. According to Ghana News Agency, the MCE released a statement urging residents, particularly stakeholders within the municipality, to disregard the allegations and continue supporting the Assembly's developmental agenda. The accusations originated from some members of the public, including individuals within his own political party, suggesting his involvement in illegal mining activities. Mr. Osei Boamah challenged anyone with evidence to substantiate the claims to present it to the appropriate authorities. He emphasized his role as a transparent leader who actively engages all stakeholders in the executi on of his duties, rather than an autocratic one. He further stated that his administration has consistently worked with the security agencies, the Minerals Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and community leaders to combat illegal mining and protect natural resources. These efforts, he noted, were well documented and verifiable by all stakeholders, stemming from his commitment to support President John Dramani Mahama's initiatives, particularly the national fight against illegal mining. Mr. Osei Boamah concluded his statement by affirming his allegiance to the President, pledging to support the President's efforts with his utmost ability to ensure the success of these initiatives.
