Former Akan NPP Parliamentary Candidate Urges Delegates to Support Dr Bawumia for Presidential Candidacy

Accra: Mr Tassah Tapha Tassah, formerly the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Akan Constituency in the 2024 elections, has made an appeal to party delegates to cast their votes in favor of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the Presidential Candidate in the upcoming January 31, 2026, Presidential Primaries.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Tassah, a private legal practitioner based in Accra, emphasized that selecting Dr Bawumia as the party's Presidential Candidate would significantly enhance the NPP's prospects of reclaiming political power in the 2028 elections. He noted Dr Bawumia's proven track record, humility, and results-oriented leadership style as key attributes that make him the most suitable candidate to lead the party.

Mr Tassah praised Dr Bawumia as a visionary and diligent leader who has shown competence both as a former Vice President and as an influential figure in the NPP government, particularly in advancing Ghana's digital transformation efforts. He highlighted Dr Bawumia's consistency, loyalty, and strong connection with the grassroots as crucial factors in his leadership.

He urged party members and supporters at all levels to unite behind the former Vice President to ensure continuity in leadership and unity within the NPP. Mr Tassah stressed that the 2026 primaries should be viewed not as a contest of personalities but as a pivotal moment for the party to select a leader capable of building on its achievements and securing victory in 2028.

Having accompanied Dr Bawumia to the Akan Constituency on Sunday, November 9, to campaign and engage with delegates, Mr Tassah also called for a peaceful, respectful, and issue-driven internal process that would reflect the NPP's democratic maturity and unity of purpose. He underscored that electing Dr Bawumia is not merely about rewarding loyalty, but about safeguarding the party's future and ensuring Ghana continues on a path of progress and innovation.
