Ukraine Renews Drone Strikes on Industrial City of Saratov

Saratov: Ukraine has again launched drones at the Russian industrial city of Saratov on the Volga River, reportedly targeting an oil refinery. Videos of an explosion from the apparent site were published on social media.

According to Ghana News Agency, the Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the attacks in Saratov but provided no information about the oil refinery. The Russian aviation authority reported early on Monday that operations at the airport in Saratov had been restricted for more than six hours due to an air alert. The city was last attacked in September.

The Defence Ministry stated that a total of 67 Ukrainian drones were shot down over Russian territory overnight, though the ministry did not provide any information on damage. Ukraine is targeting Russia’s oil infrastructure on a daily basis, hoping to reduce the supplies reaching the Russian military and aiming to disrupt Russian trade in fossil fuels, thereby reducing revenue for the Russian state.

Although the Kremlin acknowledges problems in the sector, it maintains that the situation is nevertheless under control and stable.
