Accra: Mr Yakubu Faharudeen, the former General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), has praised President John Dramani Mahama’s address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Faharudeen described the President’s address as a strong demonstration of Ghana’s commitment to peace, development, and global cooperation. He mentioned that the President’s call for reforms at the United Nations (UN), support for Palestinian self-determination, and emphasis on sustainable development were crucial issues that required urgent attention from the international community.
Mr Faharudeen expressed his commendation for President Mahama’s bravery and leadership, likening him to the iconic Dr Kwame Nkrumah. He noted that the President successfully projected Ghana’s voice on the global stage by addressing salient concerns and showing courage in tackling sensitive issues.
Furthermore, Mr Faharudeen praised world leaders who boycotted the conference room ahead of the Israeli Prime Minister’s address. He stated that this action reflected solidarity with the Palestinian people and a stand against human rights abuses. He emphasized the importance of the UN as a platform for addressing global challenges and promoting peace, urging bold action and effective solutions to enhance the institution’s impact.
