Dalia: The C. K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) has extended warm congratulations to the University for Development Studies (UDS) for winning the 2025 FISU World University Football Championship held in Dalia, China.
According to Ghana News Agency, in a statement signed by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Albert Luguterah, CKT-UTAS described the victory as a ‘well-deserved milestone’ that brings immense pride to Ghana and Africa. The statement highlighted that UDS’s triumph marked the first time an African university had lifted the coveted trophy, adding that the achievement was ‘birthed out of the unrelenting resilience of our gallant players and visionary technical team.’
The statement emphasized the shared values, beliefs, and aspirations between CKT-UTAS and UDS, noting that CKT-UTAS, being an institution carved out of UDS, feels overjoyed and proud to be associated with this historic achievement. It acknowledged the spirited display of skill and determination by Team UDS, especially in the semi-final against Granada University of Spain and the final against Paulista University of Brazil.
Concluding the message with admiration for UDS’s historic feat, the statement added: ‘Once again, we doff our hats to you on this incredible accomplishment.’ UDS’s victory not only cements its place in world university football history, but also brings unprecedented recognition to Ghana and the African continent, it said.
