Old Tafo: The Old Tafo Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has ramped up its voter education efforts in the municipality as the 2024 general elections draw near. With just a month remaining, officials are actively engaging faith-based organizations to promote messages of peace, tolerance, and civic responsibility to ensure a peaceful election in December. According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative, led by Municipal Director Mr. Suraka Saani, focuses on reinforcing the importance of maintaining Ghana's international reputation for stability in the West African sub-region. Mr. Suraka emphasized that ensuring a peaceful election is a civic duty for all Ghanaians and urged religious groups to spearhead efforts against electoral violence. Mr. Suraka highlighted the significant roles that Christians and Muslims play as moral voices in society, stressing their influence in fostering peace before, during, and after the elections. He urged citizens to avoid practices that could undermine the electoral process, reminding them that national interest should supersede personal ambitions. He specifically cautioned against using money as a political tool, spreading misinformation, engaging in electoral violence, and resorting to inflammatory rhetoric as the election approaches. The NCCE's outreach includes guidance on voting procedures at polling stations, particularly on handling ballot papers to prevent spoiling votes. This sensitization initiative is a pivotal step in empowering the community to participate actively in the elections while upholding democratic values and principles.
