Accra: The Supreme Court has overruled an objection seeking a recusal of a panel member at today's hearing of an application by the Speaker of Parliament challenging the injunction of the Court concerning the four vacant seats. The five-member panel held that the matter before it was a constitutional issue and was not based on political parties. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Thaddeus Sory, who represented the Speaker of Parliament, argued that Justice Ernest Yao Gaewu, a former Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party, should not be part of the panel. However, the Supreme Court noted that there were other panel members who formerly belonged to the National Democratic Congress and the Peoples National Convention, indicating a balanced representation. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is set to deliver its ruling on the Speaker's application challenging the court's injunction on the four vacant seats in Parliament.
