Anfoega: Professor Lydia Aziato, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), emphasized the importance of skills and knowledge adaptation for the 21st Century during her keynote address at the 60th Anniversary celebration of Anfoega Senior High School (ANFOESEC).
According to Ghana News Agency, Prof. Aziato highlighted that critical thinking is vital in an era where artificial intelligence is increasingly prevalent. She stated that students must develop innovative and creative thinking, be technologically and digitally proficient, and be adaptable to various situations to secure future employment.
Prof. Aziato stressed the need for continuous professional development for teachers, enabling them to effectively train the nation's future leaders. She praised ANFOESEC for its self-help initiatives, emphasizing that not all responsibilities should fall on the government.
The Vice-Chancellor acknowledged the significant contributions from the school's alumni and encouraged more alumni involvement to further develop the school. She also urged alumni to offer internship opportunities to current students, fostering practical experience alongside their studies.
Highlighting the importance of parental support, Prof. Aziato called for collaboration between teachers and parents to achieve educational goals. She also mentioned the crucial roles of NGOs, traditional and religious bodies, and community and political leaders in supporting the school.
Prof. Aziato appealed for assistance in securing internet connectivity for the school, ensuring both teachers and students stay updated with current developments in their fields. She commended ANFOESEC's efforts in instilling discipline among students.
The anniversary's theme, 'Celebrating 60 Years: The Role of Stakeholders in Providing Quality Education for the 21st Century,' was addressed by Dr. Gabriel T. Kwamigah-Atokple, the Volta Region Representative on the Council of State. He noted the necessity of collective effort in quality education and praised Anfoega Senior High School for maintaining a proud legacy.
Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple encouraged students to seize available opportunities with discipline and purpose, while urging alumni to stay engaged in the school's growth. Togbe Gidi-Yiboe IV, the Divisional Chief of Anfoega Adame and Chairman of the Board of Governors, recognized the school's significant impact on the community and the nation over the past 60 years. He acknowledged staff and alumni for their contributions to the school's development.
