2026 Boardroom Governance Summit to Focus on Enhancing Corporate Oversight Through Effective Committees

Accra:The 2026 Boardroom Governance Summit is set to take place on Thursday, November 12, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. The summit aims to explore the role of board committees in strengthening corporate oversight, decision-making, and accountability.

According to Ghana News Agency, this event is being organized by Professor Douglas Boateng, a social entrepreneur and researcher, in collaboration with PanAvest International, a strategic leadership development firm. The theme for the summit is 'Board Committees From Oversight to Impact. The Conversations Every Board Must Have.'

The summit has become one of the largest gatherings focused on boardroom governance in Africa, attracting around 1,000 executives, board chairpersons, and policymakers each year. Key speakers include Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Dr. Julius Debrah, Chief Alhassan Andani, Mrs. Efua Ghartey, Mr. Felix E. Addo, and Otunba Adetunji, among others. The event will also launch Professor Boateng's new book, "Practical Perspectives on the Committees of the Board," which offers insights into board committees from an African and developing-world perspective.

Organizers emphasize the critical role of committees in corporate governance, highlighting that audit committees are essential for detecting financial irregularities, while risk committees help boards manage threats. The summit will address the need for effective committees to enable informed decision-making and accountability, as well as the risk posed by weak or ceremonial committees. The sessions will cover various aspects, including succession planning, ESG oversight, and the importance of asking challenging questions. The event targets committee chairs, board members, and governance professionals, and offers CPD credits for members of partner professional bodies.
