Afronitaaa and Abigail place third at 2024 Britain’s Got Talent finals

Ghanaian dance duo Afronitaaa and Abigail have been adjudged the third-best act in the 2024 edition of the UK’s talent show, Britain’s Got Talent.

The duo, who had been favorites of both judges and fans of the competition, lost the final shot at the £250,000 prize money despite delivering a thrilling dance performance on Sunday, 02 June 2024.

They lost the competition to Jack Rhodes, who came in second, and Sydine Christmas, who won the prize money and the opportunity to perform at the Royal Variety Performance.

Beyond their dance prowess, the story of Afronitaaa and her protégé captured the hearts of the BGT audience and judges since the duo’s audition.

Despite being hearing-impaired, Abigail’s ability to synergize with Afronitaaa as her dance partner earned the duo praise throughout the competition.

Congratulations to Abigail and Afronitaa for placing 3rd on Britain’s Got Talent 2024!????????????#UTVNews pic.twitter.com/WTB26WFeOq

Rapper storms out of live TV show after dousing pundit with drink in response to insult

Ghanaian rapper Phrimpong lost his temper during a conversation on Joy Prime’s ‘On a More Serious Note’ on Friday when entertainment pundit Alexander Fifi Abaka made a comment the musician deemed disrespectful.

Per the snippet which has gone viral on social media, Fifi Abaka recalled a rap battle that occurred in 2018 involving Phrimpong and another rapper, suggesting that Phrimpong suffered a setback in the rap scene and had resorted to singing instead.

Phrimpong took offence to this remark, especially when the pundit made a derogatory reference to the musician’s grandmother, leading to laughter from the host and further exacerbating the tension.

Visibly angered by the disrespect shown on live television, the musician repeatedly urged the pundit to refrain from such behaviour.

However, when Fifi Abaka persisted and asked if Phrimpong remembered the past beef, the musician retaliated by dousing the pundit with a drink from the cup he was holding amid unprintable words.

Following the altercation, Phrimpon
g stormed out of the show in frustration amid shocked reactions from the host and crew.

Here’s a transcription of what ensued on set:

Pundit: “You finally resurrected from the dead after Local killed you.”

Musician: “When?”

Pundit: “When? 2018.”

Musician: “Oh, we’re talking about this year [2024] and you’re talking about 2018.”

Pundit: “See him! I’m telling you the reality on the ground.”

Host: “What happened?”

Pundit: “There was a beef. I was literally trolling him. That’s how come he’s not rapping anymore. That’s why he came here singing.”

Musician: “Me?”

Pundit: “No, your grandmother. I’m talking to you and you’re asking me ‘Me?'”

[Both the pundit and the hosts, KMJ and Saminiwaa, laughed over the ‘your grandmother’ insult.]

Musician: “Don’t do that. Why would you do that on live TV?”

Pundit: “But you don’t remember?”

Musician: “Don’t do that on live TV.”

Pundit: “You don’t remember?”

Musician: “No, just don’t be stupid on live TV. It’s disrespectful.”

25th TGMA Red Carpet Highlights: From DJ Azonto’s strange attire to Fella Makafui’s elegance

Over the years, celebrities have shown off some incredible and very strange wardrobe choices on the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) red carpet.

This year’s event was no different.

Actress and businesswoman Fella Makafui looked absolutely stunning as she dazzled on the red carpet at this year’s TGMA.

The actress drew attention on the red carpet with her sophisticated fashion sense and glittery makeup, as she wore elegant, shimmering red outfits.

The stunning white gown and blonde hair of Ghanaian singer Efya made her a striking presence on the red carpet.

Gospel singer Empress Gifty was not left out of the red carpet, as she wore a beautifully-styled gown.

Empress Gifty made an emphatic statement with a yellow midriff gown, her accessorised clutch bag, and shiny rings.

The likes of Gyakie, Mzbel, Piesie Esther, Wendy Shay, and Maya Blu all looked splendid on the red carpet with their beautifully made attires.

Mr. Drew was one of the most well-dressed men on the red carpet, looking crisp and immaculat
e in his suit and eye-catching loafers.

He wore dark shades and a flashy chain around his neck as he happily posed for the photographers.

But the shocking moment came when Amapiano sensation DJ Azonto emerged onto the red carpet with some perplexing looks.

Despite being known for donning female clothes, the ‘Fa No Fom’ hitmaker chose nursing garb for the red carpet event, complete with a strangely worded apron.

Well, DJ Azonto certainly got the attention of almost everyone on the red carpet, with some stunned by his choice of dressing and the motive behind it.

Regardless of the thrills and spills on the red carpet, there is no doubt that Ghanaian music fans and artists are becoming fashion conscious and made the red carpet very colourful with different styles.

Diana Asamoah arrests another junior pastor for stealing GH?30K from her bank account for sports betting

Gospel musician Diana Asamoah has disclosed the arrest of another junior pastor for allegedly stealing over GH?30,000 from her bank account for sports betting.

This incident follows the arrest of her assistant pastor last month, accused of stealing GH?4,000 from her mobile wallet.

Speaking on her evangelism programme on Angel FM, Diana Asamoah recounted discovering the theft during a bank transaction.

She revealed that an associate pastor, referred to as Apostle, had accessed her bank account and used the funds for betting and extravagant online purchases, including shopping on Amazon.

“Because the money was not his, he was placing bets in the thousands,” she explained.

She further disclosed that a detailed analysis revealed digital expenditures totaling GH?31,000 on betting, Amazon, and other online transactions.

“He was on a spending spree because he hadn’t earned the money,” she added.

According to her, the suspect known as Apostle, is currently in the custody of the police.

In April, Diana Asamoah
had another pastor arrested for stealing GH?4,000 from her mobile wallet.

“He translates my sermons into English and reads the Bible for me. He speaks in tongues and sometimes leads in my absence. He has begged for forgiveness before, and I have pardoned him,” she said about the earlier offender.

According to her, the ease of uncovering the theft is attributed to digital advancements spearheaded by NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the Holy Spirit.

“Thanks to the Holy Spirit and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitalization efforts, everything is simpler. He admitted to seeing my secret code during a transaction and transferred GH?4,000, intending to spend it on personal pleasures,” she stated in April.

DopeNation, Tic Tac react to Kuami Eugene’s ‘bloody game’ comment

Musicians, Tic Tac and DopeNation have reacted to their colleague, Kuami Eugene’s comment suggesting that the music industry has become a bloody game.

In response to the claim, Tic Tac, now Tic, reminded Eugene that the music industry has always been competitive, with some people resorting to various means to achieve their targets.

Tic Tac encouraged Eugene to continue putting in his best efforts, assuring him that through this, Eugene would entertain his fans and attain his ambition.

In a post on X, Tic Tac wrote, “It has always been like that, Kuami. Just keep it coming and continue doing you. I have no doubt that you shall surpass your own levels. Consider whatever you are going through or you have witnessed as a challenge you must overcome on your way to greatness.

“Welcome to the game proper. By the way, congratulations on your new feat yesterday. You have got too much sauce to be licked by your fans; just believe that and never back out.”

Meanwhile, DopeNation believes that the ‘Monica’ hitmaker’s
comment criticizing the music industry tends to be hypocritical.

“See the kettle calling the pot black!” DopeNation remarked on X.

Kuami Eugene in a tweet after the Telecel Ghana Music Awards 2024 stated that some artistes resort to any means necessary, whether positive or negative, to realize their ambitions and achieve their goals.

“The music industry is not how the fans see it. It’s a bloody game now. People will do anything, pull any string for validation. Ay3 tan!!!!!” he wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Eugene won two awards at the 2024 TGMA. He won the Best Highlife Artiste and Best Music Video of the Year awards.

The TGMA was held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, June 1, 2024, where musicians were awarded for their works over the past year.
